Having moved recently to sunny California from wintry Canada, my family and I were excited to bask in the sun and soak up its rays all day. We bought a lovely new home with plenty of space and we were just a short 20 minutes away from the beach. My daughters could not get over lying on the sand and catching a tan! Teenage Christoper, on the other hand, immediately developed a liking for surfing. The teenagers were at the beach almost every day before school started and every weekend afterwards.

The problem with the beach however, is that I don’t find it safe for my toddler to swim there. Not only is it too crowded, but the saltwater often gets in her eyes and makes her cry. Then of course, there is the danger of waves and swells which can get pretty big in sunny California.

I brought up this issue to the family over dinner and we all had a great idea – why not have a pool built in the backyard? We had plenty of space anyway, and it will be a great place not just for the baby but also for the entire family to hang at. My husband agreed that it will also be good exercise for him, since swimming is low impact and would be kind to his joints.

Months after, our family pool was ready. We also installed safety features and accessories to make it safe for everyone I just love how the pool fence flower mound works! And I love how the pool has just brought our whole family together.
